Peg Entwistle

Born: 5 February 1908, Port Talbot, Wales
Died: 18 September 1932, Hollywood, California, USA

Peg Entwistle was a Broadway actress of some repute who appeared alongside Billie Burke and Humphrey Bogart, but when jobs became scarce in the early 1930's she moved to Hollywood to try her luck in the booming film industry.. After her only film role she found it difficult to get work and felt that her career was going nowhere. Her ambition was to be a star of films. Entwistle decided to end her life by throwing herself off the H of the 'Hollywoodland' sign (as it was in its complete and original form). Her legend was secure but for the wrong reasons and much has now been written about Peg Entwistle's death and very little about her very short career.

Thirteen Women (1932) as Hazel Clay Cousins

Although her part in this film was originally quite big, owing to its poor response the film was cut and Peg Entwistle's on screen time was eventually only around three minutes.
