Charles Lane

Born: 26 January 1905, San Francisco, California, USA
Died: 9 July 2007, Santa Monica, California, USA

A superb face for miserly, grumpy characters, Charles Lane got a lot of work in these kind of roles.  He started his acting career on stage in the 1920s and moved into film in 1931 usually in bit parts and often uncredited.  He rose to supporting roles in big films like Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (1939) and It's a Wonderful Life (1946). Charles Lane lived until he was 102. When he died he had made over 350 film and television appearances, but was somehow missed off the Oscars 'In Memorium' tribute much to the disgust of many fans of his work.
